The Promise I Made to Myself

The Promise I Made to Myself (And Why Every Woman Should Make One Too)
There’s something sacred about a promise.
Not the kind we make to other people-the kind we make to ourselves. The kind that lives quietly
inside us, waiting for us to listen.
Recently, I wrote down five long-term goals. Not bucket list fantasies or Pinterest-perfect dreams,
but real, meaningful steps toward a creative life that reflects who I am now. Goals like building a
website to sell my art, publishing a book, and one day seeing my story featured in “Where Women
Create” magazine.
Then I took it one step further…
I made a promise to myself.
A real one. A written one. The kind I could hold in my hand and post on my wall. The kind that
reminded me I am still me-and I’m worth showing up for.
Why We Need to Do This
Women give. We nurture. We show up for everyone else. But somewhere in the hustle, we forget
how to show up for ourselves.
Making a promise to yourself is not selfish. It’s sacred. It says:
The Promise I Made to Myself
“I matter too.”
“My dreams are still valid.”
“It’s not too late to begin again.”

And who I am is not up for negotiation!
This promise became more than a list. It became a mirror. A map. A little fire inside me. And it can
for you, too.
Here’s What I Wrote:

A Promise to Myself

I promise to honor my gifts and use them boldly.
I promise to take one brave step at a time, even when I feel unsure.
I promise to share my creativity without waiting for permission or perfection.
I promise to make space for my dreams, even in the middle of my busy life.
I promise to believe that it’s not too late, not too much, and never too messy to begin.

This is not the end—it’s the becoming. These are the sacred steps I’m choosing,
and I will keep showing up—because I am still me.

A Call to Action
Make your own promise.
Write it. Print it. Tape it to your mirror or your fridge or your journal. You don’t need the world’s
permission-just your own.
